These sessions will review the medical evidence that supports the use of the Mediterranean, plant-based and ketogenic/low-carbohydrate diets for the treatment of obesity and adiposity-related conditions (cardiovascular disease, dyslipidemia, dysglycemia, cancer, etc.). We will discuss practical implementation strategies, macronutrient composition, permitted foods, and sample meals and snacks for each nutrition plan. We will also review how to assess your patients’ nutritional needs and strategies to mitigate the potential risks and complications of each nutrition plan. After this session, attendees will understand how to recommend individualized nutrition plans for their patients using the Mediterranean, plant-based, and ketogenic or low carbohydrate diets.
